HAUTE COUTURE 2017

Bringing out the explorer in Maria Grazia Chiuri, this couture collection is haute for powerful women from all around the globe. Staying true to Monsieur Dior’s philosophy, of a wholesome, complete collection is one that addresses all types of women in all countries; this collection was presented in the Hotel des Invalides in Paris. Embellished intricate in gold and copper threads, on such flawlessly tailored jackets and dresses, maps have never looked so cosmopolitan before. A whimsy of travel and culture seeped through the ensembles, subtly in some and boldly in others.

Men’s fabric dominated one half of the collection, that although, an unusual choice for a fall couture collection, worked brilliantly in favor of Chiuri. Men’s fabric tailored to fit a woman has its own charm that has an empowering effect through a certain sensuality that comes with it. Velvet dresses with petite necklines gave the collection a vintage feminine touch, whilst the sheer or translucent skirts floated seamlessly across the runway. The iconic Dior grey came to life with the structured pants paired with overlapping collared jackets. Plunging necklines made their debut in the collection with the delicate evening gowns, which were nothing but fiercely fashionable. From structured power ensembles in men’s fabric to intricately embellished evening gowns to classic velvet dresses, this collection ticks off looks on every women’s list from around the world.
