Monochromatic

 Black and White Logos

In the world of fashion, décor and luxury, the black and white color palette is synonymous with class and sophistication. From fast fashion brands to luxury automobile brands, black and white for logos has been a popular choice of all time.

One of the key reasons a black and white logo works for a brand is because of the associations with black and white as individual colors. The color black suggests power, authority and strength and is often synonymous with luxury. The color white on the other hand is synonymous with positivity, a blank space for creativity and for new beginnings.

A successful logo would strike the right balance between the two colors, because too much of either color are connotations for undesirable attributes. Too much of the color black is associated with negativity, mystery and mourning whilst too much of the color white, in certain cultures is associated with death, being afraid and vulnerability. Thus, the brand logos below are successful examples of how brands have found the right equilibrium with the monochrome chords.

The Nike just do-it tick to Adidas’ iconic three stripes to finish of with Converse’s star in a circle, sports brands have made an unforgettable mark with their black and white logos.

Bridge to luxury brands like Michael Kors, Armani Exchange and Calvin Klein, did not shy away from embracing the monochromatic palette for their easily recognizable logos.

The world of luxury automobiles has also taken to this timeless color scheme. Bentley, Jaguar and Audi all have their striking emblems in black and white.
