HAUTE COUTURE 2017

A true artists imagination begins to pave its routes from the unimaginable, Karl Lagerfeld is an artist of couture. With Chanel’s larger than life haute couture collection presented in the city of love, Paris could be felt running through the veins of the spectators. A to-scale breathtaking Eiffel Tower stood magnificently as the gorgeous models swanned down the runway in inexplicably beautifully crafted ensembles. Details were designed to the stitches in the seams, and lucky were those that were destined to see the garments up close.

The show opened with impeccably structured coats finishing at the ankles or tastefully cropped above the knee. The magic of Chanel’s atelier and craftspeople came to life with the masterpieces that fit the body like a dream. The body hugging jackets paired with symmetrical skirts that fell to the lower calves, felt as though the models took on the runway straight from classic times. Flawless dresses were adorned with ruffles perfectly embedded into the necklines and on the borders of the structured skirts. Tweed, Chanel’s most iconic choice of fabric made an appearance in hats most popular in Coco’s time. Perfectly gathered feathers were a popular choice for the shoulders, and art deco was an underlying theme throughout the collection.
